| The Chemical Valley: from aamjiwnaangsolidarity.com |
February 24 2015
Indigenous people in Canada experience significant health disparities on every major health indicator, exhibiting lower life expectancies, and higher mortality rates. All the while, they continue to be part of one of the most under-serviced populations in Canada for health care.
This show shares an intriguing and moving firsthand account of a young Indigenous environmental activist, Vanessa Gray, who illustrated her fight against exploitation and environmental injustice in her community of Aamjiwnaang, as well as the impact of the "chemical valley", and environmental racism on Indigenous health.
Produced by Alice Shen.
